How many rooms can you fit into a 70 sqm home?
This 70 sqm holiday home is designed for a family that spends the summer there and welcomes relatives to stay. The project explores how a compact home can accommodate many people while remaining flexible in its everyday use.
The kitchen was moved to make better use of the available space. In the living room, built-in sofas provide extra sleeping places. A second sitting room can become a bedroom when needed, with a four-leaf rattan partition closing it off and wardrobes providing storage. The two bedrooms were reorganized with built-in headboards and new wardrobe spaces. The former single bathroom was redesigned as two compact bathrooms.
Built-in sofas and headboards give the rooms a sense of continuity, while hand-trowelled cement mortar brings a tactile quality to the interiors. Blue appears in the kitchen and sofas, and continues into the bathrooms through light-blue mosaic in one and blue finishes in the other. Terracotta details add warmth to the palette.
